Torres del Paine was a riotous start to our whirlwind adventure, and it doesn't stop there. After our day of leaving the park and getting into the town of Puerto Natales, we had an uproar at the bus terminal. We had a bus the next day to get to El Calafate, but our bus service didn't have our reservation. Something happened and we were in a bind to get tickets. Luckily, it all worked out in the end with Paul running around for 2 hours whilst I cleaned in our hotel room and worried that he got arrested.
Don't worry about that.
Let's focus on when we actually did get to El Calafate, ARGENTINA!
After a 6-7 hour bus ride and a suspiciously easy border control, we made it. Argentina is by far my favorite country in South America and it's beautiful.
We checked into our hotel and then walked about, mainly doing the bird reserve we saw.
Sorry, there will be tons of photos...Paul was a bit pent up.
El Calafate berry
Cute little story unfolds with this chick
"It's so windy mother!"
"I think I'll just..."
"...hide in here"
"HOW DARE YOU WATCH ME AND MAH BEBE!?!"
Lake nearby...Lago Argentino
It's lovely obviously. The next day was awesome. We went to Perito Moreno, the huge glacier that grows an inch a year. The day was overcast, but as with everything in Patagonia, the weather is bipolar and really won't stick with one choice.
We took the 2 hour bus into the park and then got on a boat
Pretty crazy right?
That blue is fantastic
Sometimes, huge chunks of ice would fall off and make a spectacular sound...
Like THIS!..
One of my absolute favorites
Those are people climbing the glacier...it's ginormous
Still people
After the boat ride, we were taken to a walkway trail area that gave you alternate views high up on a mountain. I'll just let the beauty of nature take over now.
We only spent one day here, which is enough, but still, it leaves a mark on the heart.
The next day, we walked around the town again, down by the lake.
By the way, one very beautiful thing that we saw everywhere in Argentina is the roses. We saw tons of rose bushes planted in any place, even next to the road. It was such a nice touch.
Although it has been almost a month since we returned from our adventure, it has been great reliving the memories. So, thank you for your patience, but you have a few more weeks to go!
Luckily for you, nothing new has been happening. Paul's feeling sickly and we are both doing work on our thesises...so, we won't bother you with that annoyance :).
Here's a video with my favorite line "are you taking a video?"
