Life in Spanish

Now that we have settled into our new home, you probably want to know a little about our day to day life and how Paul is faring with Kimberly Clark.

Our first week was spent at the Hyatt, in a brand new plaza.  It was neat because it had so many restaurants, but it did lack a certain...Costa Ricanness since there was a Denny's, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart.  Luckily, this was only a temporary situation.

Making a salad...out of an ice bowl :)

Our new place is at Casa Conde, which is an apartotel.  IT'S AMAZING!  Mainly because there's a kitchen and more rooms.  We do have a spare bedroom, so we cordially invite everyone and anyone to come on down and visit.

Kitchen and...

Sigh...a washer and dryer.  We were getting desperate without one!  I only packed 2 weeks worth of clothes.

They even gave Paul a car.  This is a pretty nice perk and it is mainly supposed to be used for going to work.  But still, the freedom of it is amazing.  The bus system is supposed to be great here, but I just haven't had the desire to use it.  San Jose isn't Boston, with so much going on.  But, it is in Costa Rica, which is amazingly beautiful.

Paul is doing well at KCC.  The plant is pretty new from all descriptions and everyone is very accommodating.  Yet, Paul does feel the pressure to learn Spanish fast.  Luckily, he has a Spanish teacher :).  Every day, we practice his Spanish in conversations, practicing verb tenses, and mini lessons.  He is getting there and I'm pretty sure due to the immersion, he is going to be better than me!  He remembers a lot more than he thinks.  All he needs to do is perfect speaking.   He'll be great.

He also gets to do more traveling apparently.  He may get to go to El Salvador to visit a few plants there and Argentina.  This is all tentative, but still, it's interesting.

How do I spend my days do you ask?  Since I don't have to clean anything any more due to having a maid service?

Read. Exercise.  Sit by the pool.  Plan vacations.  It's a lot like Australia, but less cleaning.  There will be no living with me after this.

I did finalize my class schedule for the upcoming semester and I'm truly excited.  I understand everything!  Huzzah!

Either way, hope all is well at home and remember...there is an extra bed waiting for you Costa Rica...that is, until mid July.  So, hurry!
